Cognitive Enhancement

Just like your body, your brain must be exercised to stay fit and sharp. Flower Mound integrates cognitive exercises into the daily Life Enrichment calendar right alongside our physical fitness progam.

Based on the work of Dr. Rob Winningham of Western Oregon University, participants are led through a series of exercises to stretch and challenge the brain. Exercises may include:

Word searches

Alpha-numeric order sequencing

Learning new things such as a ‘Spanish Word of the Day’

Sudoku

Knitting

Jigsaw Puzzles

And many more!

The Eden Alternative

The Eden Alternative® was founded in 1991 by Dr. William Thomas, a Harvard-educated physician and board-certified geriatrician. The principles of the Eden Alternative® are about changing the culture of long-term care organizations. Edenizing organizations are helping to support a meaningful life for elders.

The Eden Alternative® shows how companionship; the opportunity to give meaningful care to other living things; and the variety and spontaneity that mark an enlivened environment can succeed in senior care. Senior living communities that have adopted the Eden Alternative® typically are filled with plants, animals and are regularly visited by children.

The Eden Alternative ® combats the three “plagues” of the human spirit: loneliness, helplessness, and boredom. Flower Mound is dedicated to combating these three plagues in order for our elders to live full, meaningful lives.

Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's

The end of Alzheimer's starts here.

We walk to reclaim the future for millions. We walk for the loved ones that struggle with living with Alzheimer’s, both as caregivers and patients. Flower Mound Assisted Living supports the Alzheimer’s Association and the work they do by helping raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support.

Stay tuned as we get closer to the 2013 walk to help us support the Walk to End Alzheimer's!

Employee Retention Programs

Belonging begins by knowing one another well. Our Welcome Home new team member experience allows each person the opportunity to learn about our Mission, Vision, and Values, and to discover for themselves the reasons they are inspired to work in an elder-directed environment where elders rule, and team members rock! We foster a culture of caring where we care for the elders and for one another. We also recognize that it is important to allow the elders to care for us. Our golden rule is, "Do unto those you work with as you would have them do unto the Elders." We have extraordinary standards of service and character. Our Welcome Home experience reinforces the role of each person in developing relationships that make each day at work joyful.
